In his first year he has collected an average of 18.8 points, 7.9 rebounds and 3.9 assists. He began collecting the first part of the following year an average of 13.2 points. In the second half failed to improve and finish the season with an average of 18.8 points, 7.7 rebounds and 3.5 assists, candidate for the Artesia win the title and taking his team to a 33-1 record. Artesia, in fact, win the title with a record of 33-2.
He also helped his team dell’AAU (Amateur Athletic Union), the Pump-N-Run Elite won the Adidas Super 64 Championship in 2006. He scored 34 points in the game against DC Assault team of Michael Beasley, Nolan Smith and Austin Freeman. That same day he played a game against the Houston Hoops, finishing the match with 33 points. The final match saw the Pump-N-Run victory against the Southern California All-Stars Kevin Love.

In the 2007-08 season, Arizona State has had to defend the title of the Pacific-10 Conference. With 17.8 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists in his first mid-year, Harden hashelped his team reach the record of 21-13. Arizona State will not, however, beyond the fifth in the Pac-10.
Out of the NCAA, Arizona State was chosen for the National Invitation Tournament in 2008. After defeating two teams, the Sun Devils have had to surrender in the final against the defending champions, the Florida Gators.
After this year, Harden appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated. He started the 2008-09 season quite well, reaching a career-high 40 points against UTEP Miners November 30, 2008. It will end the 2008-2009 season with an average of 20.1 points, 5.6 rebounds and 4.2 assists. After the defeat of the Sun Devils against the USC Trojans, Harden was nominated for the All-Pac 10 Tournament Team.
After the end of the season, Harden said his eligibility for the 2009 NBA Draft. He also hired Rob Pelinka as his agent.
On June 25, 2009 was chosen as the third overall pick in NBA Draft by the Oklahoma City Thunder. He concluded his first year with 9.9 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists, numbers that allow him to enter the NBA All-Rookie Second Team 2010.
