Harmon Killebrew Profile Biography – Biographyzone.com. Harmon Clayton Killebrew (born June 29, 1936 – May 17, 2011) is a major leaguer baseball with the Washington Senators and Minnesota Twins. Players from 1954 to 1975, he entered the Hall of Fame baseball in 1984.
He knocked 573 home runs in his career of 22 seasons. Upon retirement, he was the second biggest hitter in the American League circuit after Babe Ruth and the fifth in major league history. As of 2011 its 573 circuits rank it the 11th most in history. Killebrew addition, only Babe Ruth had eight seasons of 40 or more homeruns.

His career began in 1954 with the Senators, but his first full season was 1959 when he hit 42 homeruns. In 1961 the Senators became the Minnesota Twins. In 1969 he hit 49 home runs and recorded 140 RBI. At the end of the season he was voted best player in the league. Apart from his election as the MVP, he finished five times in the top 5 in voting to restore the honor after the season.
Killebrew was chosen 11 times All-Star American League (1959, 1961, 1963 and 1971). At the end of his career he spent one season with the Kansas City Royals before retiring in 1975. In his career, he is more than 40 home runs eight times. Only Killebrew, Bill Mazeroski and Rabbit Maranville were elected to the Hall of Famebaseball without hitting at least .300
In December 2010, Killebrew said that he is suffering from cancer of the esophagus. He announces that he is terminally ill May 13, 2011. The following weekend, the clubs of Washington and Minnesota, two cities where Killebrew played for 21 of his 22 years in Major League, pays tribute to the legendary player. May 17 2011, Killebrew died at Scottsdale, Arizona, at the age of 74.
A rumor that a photo of Harmon Killebrew has served as inspiration when creating in 1968 the official logo of Major League Baseball.
