It first appeared in the adaptation of Henry Hathaway True Grit was released in 1969 under the French title of hundred dollars for a sheriff, western United States. He learned guitar from his Uncle Boo still young, and played without knowing how to read notes.

He trains with his uncle Bill Dick a group that will occur between 1954-1958 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. At 18, he toured alongside the Western Wranglers, and Fields, moved to Los Angeles in 1958 as a performing musician, and is increasingly sought and famous in the 1960s: in 1964 and 1965, he was a musician on stage for the Beach Boys.
It was part of a collective of session musicians and stage called Wrecking Crew, present on the Wall of Sound Phil Spector, one can also hear Glen on the album Pet Sounds, you can see in the film The Wake violence (Baby, the Rain Must Fall) with Steve McQueen.
