Charlotte Church Biography

In a nutshell

Charlotte was first spotted on that classic TV show where you could win a prize if your phone number was picked out. Talking Telephone Numbers! Remember it?
She sang some classic thingoranother and was 'snapped up' by a manager who got her signed to a five-album deal with Sony. Which isn't bad when you're just a little girl from Wales.
It wasn't long until Charlotte 'fell out' with her manager and the duties were taken over by none other than her mother. Recipe for disaster?
Charlotte's debut album was called 'Voice of an Angel' which is rather sweet and gentle. The public lapped it up and she hit the top of the classical charts (we didn't even know classical music HAD a chart). You've got to hand it to Char for one thing, though ? her albums sold pretty well in America too, something Robbie Williams never quite managed...
A girl can't stay interested in that boring classical music stuff forever, as Char proved when she moved into more mainstream pop. Her album Tissues and Issues spawned one hit single, Crazy Chick, which reached number 2. It wasn't a bad effort but the album sort of fizzled out after a while and we haven't heard from her since.
But it's just as well she had a couple of things to fall back on... Firstly her hunky boyfriend (and then husband), Gavin Henson. Although a lot of us laughed at him for his fake tan and hugely spiky hair the couple look pretty happy together. And then there's the TV series. Oh how we laughed when Charlotte signed up for her own Channel 4 chat show. And, for most of the time, we kept laughing because the show was basically just an excuse for Char to sing and talk about herself.
