From being a child-star, to crystal-meth addict Stacy 'Fergie' Ferguson has had more than your average pop star's life experience.
Born and raised in LA, she began her career early in that most dubious of professions; the child star. She began doing voiceover work for the Charlie Brown cartoons before landing a role on TV sitcom-meets-musical Kids Incorporated, where she was the longest-running cast member.
She then formed a female R&B trio called Wild Orchid, which enjoyed mixed success before the record dropped them in 2001, prompting a depressed Fergie to start up a crystal meth addiction. She reportedly realised it was time to call it a day when she spent eight hours talking to a hamper when she was high. But things were about to look up. By 2002 she was clean and working as a backing singer when her friend William (or will.i.am) invited her to join his all-male rap group the Black Eyed Peas.
Their debut album Elephunk spawned hit singles 'Shut up' and 'Where is the Love' the Uk's top-selling single of 2003. The second album Monkey Business was also a smash, taking their worldwide sales to 18 million. The Peas had arrived with Stacey 'Fergie' Ferguson in tow. Aside from 'wee-gate' (when she accidentally peed on stage during a show in Australia) Fergie has enjoyed unparalleled success with The Peas. Still in 2006 she decided to show the world she could cut-it as a solo star.
Her debut album The Duchess earned her a Grammy nomination and several salacious hits including London Bridge (purportedly about, ahem, 'going down' when her gentleman friend 'comes around'). She even resurrected her long-distant acting career with supporting roles in films such as the 2009 musical Nine.
Since then she's reunited with The Peas for their fifth studio album The E.N.D, and the group are due to embark on a mammoth world tour. And Fergie?
