David Tennant Biography

In a nutshell

In a wee small village many years ago (try and stick with this story if you can), a young laddie named David MacDonald was born to the son of a minister. Little did either of them know that this wee laddie would fly the nest and travel through time and space as Doctor Who, or change his surname to Tennant. Named after the lager, was it?!
It's actually pretty handy that David ended up being Doctor Who. If we weren't so cynical we could probably say it was 'meant to be', but we've heard that in school the 'wee laddie' wrote a sci-fi inspired story, claiming he was a Doc Who junkie, convinced he was going to get the part on TV. If it works we don't mind trying it. We're going to win the lottery, we're going to win the lottery...
In order to be an actor, it's sometimes good to try and do some sort of actingtraining. Also handy, then, that David spent time at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.
You can't just jump into being the Doctor, though, so if you think back you've probably seen him 'treading the boards' in the BBC's Blackpool and the title role in the saucy Casanova.
With Doctor Who being such a success it was no surprise when he won the 2006 National Television Award for Most Popular Actor, closely followed by what might be the biggest accolade ? being voted best Doctor by readers of the official magazine. We prefer Dr Fox, it has to be said...
Now, we're not totally sure of this guy's relationship status. We recently spotted him at the premier of Indiana Jones wearing a terrible baseball cap, but also accompanied by ? wait for it ? a FEMALE friend! Now if we were some sort of sordid gossip rag we could suggest it might be his girlfriend. But in reality, we haven't a clue.
