Moss played the first seven years of his career in Minnesota, then was traded to the Oakland Raiders where he played two seasons. On April 29, 2007 was traded to the New England Patriots, where he earned the record for most touchdowns with 23 in the 2007 season.
In the list of top 100 players in NFL history published in November 2010, Moss was ranked as the third best WR of all time, behind only Jerry Rice and Don Hutson.
