Dane Bowers Biography

In a nutshell

The ex-boyband member has seemingly had more success off-screen than on; managing to forge a career out of songwriting, producing and Dj-ing since his brief 1990s success with now-defunct R&B four-piece Another Level.
He attended the famous BRIT School of Performing Arts in his hometown of Croydon (whose alumini include Amy Winehouse and Leona Lewis) after which he formed the aforementioned Another Level which enjoyed several top-ten singles, BRIT nominations and a platinum-selling album.
The group were even the support act for Janet Jackson's 1998 European tour but split in 2000 with Dane attempting solo projects, most successfully the 'Out of Your Mind' single with UK garage act True Steppers featuring ex Spice Girl Victoria Beckham. Sadly success was short-lived for Dane, as subsequent solo singles stalled.
Dane is also of course famous for dating then glamour model Katie Price. An infamous naughty tape of them was leaked onto the internet, propelling Ms Price into the limelight (proving there's no such thing as bad publicity) and she hasn't looked back since. Sadly the limelight has eluded our poor Dane.
As many an ex-celebrity before him, he attempted to resuscitate his flagging career by way of reality TV show. Sadly this culminated in flop Totally Boyband, aired on MTV in 2006, which featured former boy band members attempting to regain their former fame by regrouping into a new...ah... group. The subsequent single failed to impact on the charts (it probably didn't help that they had the worst name in pop memory 'Upper Street'). A Take That reunion it was not.
However his appearance in 2010's Celebrity Big Brother (a metaphorical A&E for celeb career crisis' if ever there was one) seemingly revived his profile, as he came second to Alex Reid. The two got along well in the house despite press reports about alleged punch-ups over shared ex Katie Price. Ah, the magic of PR guff. As a result of his CBB exposure he is allegedly making a foray back into the music biz in 2010 with the release of a pop album. Is he Out of His Mind? Watch this space!
