Springsteen was born in Long Branch, New Jersey, and spent his childhood and school years in Freehold Borough. His father, Douglas Frederick Springsteen, was Dutch and Irish descent and her mother, Adele Ann, was a legal secretary Italian descent.

Springsteen had been inspired in music at age seven after seeing Elvis Presley show at The Ed Sullivan. In 1965, he went to the house of Tex and Marion Vinyard helped him become the guitarist and lead singer of The Castiles.
