In a nutshell
She's the singer, model and actress who inspired women everywhere to show their independence! The former Destiny's Child member was ranked number two on the Forbes 100 Most powerful Celebrities list in 2010. And all this still only at the ripe-old age of 28. How does she do it?Hard graft, seemingly. Her father Matthew Knowles (who gave up his job as an medical-equipment salesman to manage her musical career) shipped her and fellow bandmates around the major record labels to audition as the self-styled Destiny's Child. The hard work paid off when they were eventually signed to Columbia Records in 1996.
The success (and internal strife) of the group was soon evident, as was the fact that young Beyonc? captured the bulk of the spotlight with her curvaceous sex appeal and strong vocals.
She also wasn't shy about going it alone, starring in Austin Powers in Goldmember in 2002 as Foxxy Cleopatra (debuting her first solo single Work it Out on the film's soundtrack) and starring in comedy film The Fighting Temptations a year later. This one-woman talent juggernaut clearly didn't need to be in a girl-group any more. The Destiny's Children went their separate ways each pursuing solo projects, though perhaps unsurprisingly all paled in comparison to Beyonc?'s debut album Dangerously in Love (which picked up a mere four Grammy Awards in 2004).
They all reconvened to milk to Destiny's Child cash-cow for a final album and tour, and even got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for their efforts. Well, they were the most successful girl-band of all time after all, making The Spice Girls look a bit like Chaz 'n Dave in comparison.
Beyonc? then starred in Dreamgirls, a musical based loosely on the internal strife of a 1960s girl-group based loosely on The Supremes. Beyonc? played the Diana Ross-based character, who eclipses the other girls in the group with her beauty and talent. Hm. Ring any bells?
Perhaps bored with her phenomenal success, Beyonc? then reinvented herself with her third album 'I am.. Sasha Fierce!' Sasha Fierce looked and sounded a lot like Beyonc?, and spawned a You Tube dancing craze telling Single Ladies to Put a Ring On It. (The song coincided with her and boyfriend Jay-Z's alleged secret marriage). The video also cleaned up at the 2009 MTV Music awards.
She's currently taking a music career break (perhaps to polish her countless trophies) but informed a UK audience on her recent 'I Am....' tour that she was working on a fourth studio album. Phew! Beyonc - Biography from (http://www.talktalk.co.uk/celebrity/biography/person/beyonc-knowles/248)
