In a nutshell

We love to think of SJP as a girl's girl who loves to dress up in pretty shoes and dresses and giggle a lot. And to a certain extent, that's probably true.
SJP started out by attending the School for Creative and Performing Arts in her home town and this is probably where she was bitten by the acting bug. She was so good, in fact, that she performed in the Broadway musical Annie from 1977 and eventually ended up in the title role for a year. Not bad going, but there was more to come.
She starred in Footloose in 1984 and, amazingly, Flight of the Navigator in 1986. We've seen the film loads of times but don't remember SJP ever being in it, so it looks like we'll have to dust down the VHS and take another peek.
SJP's roles were well-received by the critics and she had more hit films under her belt, including Honeymoon in Vegas and Ed Wood alongside Johnny Depp.
Now, the biggest moment of her career happened when the scripts for Sex and the City were sent over. The creator of the show, Darren Star (genius if you ask us...) was adamant that she was going to star ? and she agreed, taking the lead role of writing Carrie Bradshaw.
The role has made SJP a household name and millions of adoring fans. She's now also somewhat of a fashion icon ? for better of for worse. She had 15 outfit changes when she hosted the 2000 MTV Movie Awards!
Carrie ? sorry, Sarah ? was involved with Robert Downey Jr after meeting on the set of the movie Firstborn. However this relationship didn't work out and she married actor Matthew Broderick in 1997.
