Robert Lindsay Biography
Personal details
Name: Robert LindsayBorn: 13/12/1949 (Age: 61)
From: Derbyshire, UK
Famous for: You might have caught the awful 'My Family'
Relationship status: Married
In a nutshell
Born to Robert was encouraged by his friends to study at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and eventually went through with it, paid for by a government grant ? which, we think, means we can chant things like 'We own you!' and 'You have us to thank for this!' etc.He actually starred in popular show The Good Life in its fourth series and followed it up with a starring role in Citizen Smith. He's also done a lot of Shakespeare on stage and in 1984 starred in a revival of Me and My Girl which earned him both a Tony Award and a Laurence Olivier Award. Fancy!
Although a lot of people absolutely hate it (and, like us, cannot understand why people could possibly find it funny), Robert has had a lead role in the BBC sitcom My Family since 2000. The show seems to do pretty well and, we're sorry to say, doesn't seem to be going anywhere soon.
Ricky Gervais featured Robert on one of his video podcasts and eventually wrote a part for him in the last episode of Extras where Robert appeared as an exaggerated, pushy version of himself.
Lindsay has had two marriages. The first was to his Citizen Smith co-star Cheryl Hall whom he married in 1974 but they ended up divorcing in 1980. He married again in 2006 to Rosemarie Ford. Does the name ring a bell? Well, it's nice to see her, to see her NICE! Yep, it's Brucie's old co-host from The Generation Game. Amazing.
