Paul Simon Profile Biography – Biographyzone.com. Paul Frederic Simon, born October 13, 1941 in Newark Heights (New Jersey) is an American singer-songwriter. Songwriter American singer Paul Simon is known for his collaboration with Arthur Garfunkel, first in the group Tom and Jerry in the late fifties, and as a member of the duo Simon & Garfunkel, folk-influenced pop training that recorded several albums significant between 1964 and 1970, including Sounds of Silence (1966) and Bridge Over Troubled Water (1970).

The duo also recorded the soundtrack to the film The Graduate (The Graduate), directed by Mike Nichols in 1967 with Dustin Hoffman, which was fired as the Mrs. Robinson, one of their greatest hits.
After separating in 1971 Art Garfunkel, Paul Simon wrote and recorded a solo album called Paul Simon in 1972. It was not his first attempt, as he had, many years ago in 1965, made a debut album in England, The Paul Simon Song Book. He continued to compose during the 1970s and left in 1986 his most successful solo Graceland.
In 2003, he joined Arthur Garfunkel once again for a U.S. tour followed by an international tour in 2004 (North America and Europe) and 2009 (Japan, Australia and New Zealand). On September 11, 2011, he sang “Sound of Silence” at the commemoration of the attacks of September 11.
