A real experience who lived in the school years later was transformed into a sub-plot of her character in Glee: high school teachers denied them the chance to sing “Defying Gravity” from Wicked musical as it is traditionally sung by a woman. Kurt Hummel’s role was written especially for Chris Colfer, who originally auditioned for the role of Artie.
When I was eighteen, Colfer starred Russell Fish: The Sausage and Eggs Incident, a short film where a gangly teenager should go through a Presidential Physical Fitness test and would lose their admission at Harvard University. The first TV role came in 2009 for Colfer, when he was invited to play Kurt Hummel in the series of Fox’s Glee.
The character is gay and is at the heart of many conflicts in their series. Colfer has a high vocal range, as shown in the episode “Wheels”, in which his character demonstrates the unusual ability (for a man) to sing in a “high F”. Chris Colfer appeared at the 2010 MTV VMA on September 12, 2010. Colfer will star in the comedy coming season Struck By Lightning.
Colfer is openly gay. and this was shared in U.S. TV show Access Hollywood in which he said his parents were still accepting their guidance, and speak openly that it was often bullied at school. He auditioned for the role of Artie in the song “Mr. Cellophane”, but Kevin McHale was selected for the role.
However, the casting directors were so impressed with Colfer who wrote to Kurt Hummel to give it some character in the series. Colfer said in its casting: “It’s good to have something positive, especially for children in small towns, like me, who need a little pick-me-up.” Kurt Hummel became one of the favorite characters from the public. Colfer appeared on Friday Night With the “talk show” Jonathan Ross on June 18, 2010, along with fellow Glee co-starring Amber Riley and Matthew Morrison.
