Colston got out of high school a scholarship to the University of Missouri. He decided, however, for a worse scholarship from Hofstra University. In his four years he caught 182 passes and 2.834 yards. This is the school record unbroken to this day.

NFL career
2006 NFL Draft
Marques Colston was in the 2006 NFL Draft in the seventh Round, 252nd Gedrafted place. Because of its size, it was viewed as a tight end and many thought that he would not be gedrafted.
New Orleans Saints
Because of the sale of Donte Stallworth in the first game he could play from the start and showed a very good performance. He holds the NFL record for most catches by a player in the first two seasons with the 168th In the 2008 season due to injury, he could only six of 16 possible games to play from the beginning.
