In a nutshell
Louis is one of the modern breeds of part professional, part celebrity thanks to his role on one of the biggest shows on the box, The X Factor.Originally starting out working in a music manager's office in Dublin, Louis first appeared on TV screens as a judge in the Irish edition of reality music show, Popstars. After finding a band on that show he was brought across to London to star in Popstars: The Rivals on ITV. It was on this show that he became famous, as 'manager' of the winning group, Girls Aloud.
Take That were a massive band and, seeing the potential for a sub-standard copy, Louis held auditions to create Boyzone. They were a success, selling over 12 million copies worldwide.
It's reported that Louis and Ronan Keating, Boyzone's lead singer, had a huge falling out when Ronan decided to 'take a break' from the band. We're not sure if they've fully kissed and made up now, but with the Boyzone reunion now well underway it seems things might not be as frosty as they once were.
Louis is also responsible for Westlife, and decided to sign them with Simon Cowell at the record label RCA.
Louis really became a household name after being picked by Simon Cowell to be a judge on The X Factor. Alongside Sharon Osbourne (and now Dannii Minogue and Cheryl Cole) he achieved success with runner's up G4 in series one and won with Shane Ward in series two.
