Katie Holmes Biography

In a nutshell

Born in Ohio, a young Katie is from a large family. When she was 14 she started classes at a modelling school (are they doing modelling schools these days?!) and soon after she found herself an agent.
One of her audition tapes was sent to Ang Lee, director of The Ice Storm, and she bagged the role of Libbets Casey soon after.
Her looks and personality also shone through for the producers of a new teen drama, Dawson's Creek, to notice. She grabbed the part of Joey Potter (not any relation to Harry, before you ask) and filmed the pilot episode during her spring break before moving to Wilmington, where they filmed the series, full time.
Holmes wasn't particular lucky when it came to her film roles. She is even thought to have claimed her films as a string of 'bombs'.
Katie had a starring role in the revamped Batman series of films, Batman Begins. However she decided not to reprise her role in The Dark Knight, with the role being taken on by Maggie Gyllenhaal.
Katie was never really big tabloid news but that all changed when she met film star Tom Cruise in 2005. Remember The Oprah Winfrey show which saw Tom jumping up and down declaring his love for somebody? Well, that slightly 'OTT' act was all for Katie. She must have been so proud!
