In a nutshell

He's the wholesome Canadian teen-pop sensation who causes a Pamplona bull run-like stampede amongst female fans wherever he goes. And Justin Bieber is still young enough to ride the bus for free.
He has his mother to thank for his meteoric rise to fame. Mother Bieber's hobby of posting videos of young Justin singing R&B covers on YouTube struck gold when manager-in-waiting Scooter Braun chanced upon them. (To be fair, Justin had racked up over 10,000,000 views by this point purely from word of mouth.)
He then invited Justin (still only 13) to Atlanta to do some demos and audition for singer/songwriter Usher and affiliates, who prompted got him signed up to Island Records and subsequently mentored his career.
In 2009 he went on to release the first half of debut album 'My World' closely followed by the imaginatively-titled 'My World 2.0'. It reached no.1 on the Billboard 200, making him - at sixteen - the youngest solo male artist to do so since Stevie Wonder in 1963.
He found a receptive global audience (amongst pre-pubescent teen girls anyway) and Bieber-mania soon ensued, with Justin even being summoned to the White House to sing for US President Barack Obama and his wife and high-profile media guest slots on shows such as Saturday Night Live.
The video for his most successful single to date, 'Baby' even dethroned Lady Gaga to be crowned the most searched for celebrity on the Internet. This has been a mixed blessing for Justin though as he has been the target fro pesky internet pranksters 4chan. (the imageboard website famous for triggering online viral campaigns).
This has resulted in the term "Justin Bieber Syphilis" being pushed to the top of Google Trend's Hot Searches list and redirecting his YouTube videos to adult sites.
4chan were also thought to be behind the reason North Korea was no.1 in a poll result which asked fans to vote for the 'bonus country' Justin should visit on his My World Tour on the tours website. This resulted in almost half a million votes to send the singer to the secretive communist nation (unsurprisngly his record company have since not endorsed the site).
So what next for the teen-pop sensation? He is currently working on his second album, despite not able to hit the high notes he once could, as his voice is reportedly beginning to crack (such are the perils of adolescence - let's hope it isn't the career death-knell that it was for Aled Jones and 'Walking in the Air').
