In a nutshell

Jessica Ann Simpson was born in 1980 in Abilene, Texas USA. As a good old hick (I think that's what we call them) Jessica started singing at her local Baptist church and then, in the same boat as Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears, joined The Mickey Mouse Club. After leaving school aged 16, Jessica toured the Christian music circuit and then, who'd have thought it, a record company exec heard one of her songs and that was that ? she was signed!
Now this perfect rise to stardom wouldn't be complete without a handsome, All-American boyfriend. When Jessica was touring to support her first 'proper' album, it was alongside boyband 98 Degrees. Lead singer Nick obviously caught her eye and the pair eventually married, creating...
...a fantastically cheesy MTV reality show, Nick and Jessica: Newlyweds. And we're not afraid to admit that we love watching this show, even now. From memory, each show featured Jessica spending too much money while Nick played basketball at home or sometimes went to the shop. What more could you ask for in a show when you're hungover?
Not content with being a singing superstar (although she never quite matched the fame of Britney or Christina, especially in the UK) Jessica thought it would be a good idea to star in mooooovies.
