In a nutshell

She's an odd one to figure out, is our Gwyneth. She pops up every now and again on the silver screen but other than that she seems to have disappeared into the world of housewife/mother/pretend-Brit. Which is fine, we suppose, if you like that sort of thing.
Born in LA (where else?) to parents Bruce and Blythe (what charming names!), young Gwyneth initially started studying but dropped out to pursue an acting career.
Her first major jobs were mainly on stage and, as everybody needs a breakthrough film to make it 'big', hers came in the 1995 thriller, Se7en. Not a shoddy start even if we do say so ourselves. Next up came Emma, where she managed to pull off a pretty good English accent. Perhaps she knew she'd be spending a lot more time here in the future?
One of our favourite films ? although to be honest, we're not going to shout from the rooftops about it ? is Shakespeare in Love, in which Gwyneth plays the obligatory love interest alongside the dreamy Joseph Fiennes. It was a massive success, raking in the cash as well as winning several major awards.
Although she had a few crappy films along the way, most recently Gwyneth came out on top yet again, this time in her role as the assistant in smash-hit, Iron Man. She played Pepper Potts. Do you see what they did there? Filming for the sequel has already completed and we expect to see it in cinemas in summer 2010.
Before Brangelina was even a twinkle in the eye of celebrity magazine editors, Brad Pitt used to date Gwyneth for quite some time. They were together from 1994 until 1997 and even got engaged.
However, the love of Gwyneth's life seems to be Coldplay's Chris Martin. They met backstage at a show and hit it off. They got married in 2003 (really? That long ago?) and since that have produced a beautiful family, albeit with slightly 'diverse' names ? daughter Apple Blythe Alison Martin and their son Moses Bruce Anthony Martin. Although they're not sure if they want more children, apparently Chris is keen to adopt. It's another case of the 'Madonnas...'
