So, are you shocked? This lovely well-spoken English actress who both you and your kids adore isn't actually English at all!! Well, maybe a little bit. Emma was actually born in Paris and is the daughter of British lawyers. When they divorced she moved back to the UK aged 5.
Emma is currently the face of Burberry's latest advertising campaign, and a stunning job she's making of it. You'll probably see her in various magazines up and down the land in gorgeous macs which we'll never be able to afford (and, actually, probably wouldn't wear given we're male) - and when Harry Potter is out of the way, we wouldn't be surprised if she lands a few more significant modelling contracts.
Emma's big break came when it was decided the massively popular Harry Potter books were to be transformed for the silver screen. After a reported eight auditions a young Emma was selected for the role of Hermione Granger and the first film - Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone - became the biggest film of 2001 and catapulted her to worldwide fame.
Still at it several years later, Emma is signed up to complete the remaining film adaptations. The most recent, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, premiered in London in July 2009 under stormy conditions. So much so, some clever paparazzi managed to grab some images of a partially drenched Emma. Those snazzy outfits don't work quite so well in the pouring rain, huh?
Emma is growing in popularity every day and on an interview with Jonathan Ross she revealed she was going to study in America when her work on the Harry Potter films had finished. She also revealed she has a boyfriend. We don't know much about him but we hope they're happy - and that his name isn't Harry.
