He rose to fame after finishing first in the BBC Sound of 2010 poll and win the Critics’Choice Award at the Brit Awards 2010. After signing a contract with Polydor Records in 2009, Goulding launched his first extended play An Introduction to Ellie Goulding, followed by his debut album Lights in 2010.

Later that same year recorded a re-release of Lights, called Bright Lights. Currently working on his second studio album. In early January 2011, Goulding has been nominated for two Brit Awards 2011 for Best British Female Solo Artist and Best British Breakthrough Artist. His album, Lights, will be released by Cherrytree Records in the United States March 8, 2011.

Ellie Goulding Career
In 2009 he received a contract from Polydor Records, which released the EP An Introduction to Ellie Goulding, followed by their debut album, Lights in March 2010.

His debut single, “Under the Sheets, released to radio Sept. 30, 2009 on iTunes and November 15 of that year, came to the position 53 of the UK singles chart. After receiving the award at the Brit Awards, February 22, 2010, was released the first single from her debut album, Starry Eyed, which peaked at number four in the UK charts. The third single, Guns and Horses, was released May 17, 2010 and the fourth, The Writer, August 9. Lights was reissued November 29, 2010 under the title Bright Lights, plus seven new songs in addition to those already present in the Standard, including the single Your Song, Elton John’s cover of the song, released November 12.

The Lights album was released on 1 March 2010 and made ??his entry into the British album chart at the first position, selling 40,000 copies in its first week. He has had some success in Greece, Ireland, New Zealand, Germany and Norway. Lights was reissued November 29, 2010 under the title Bright Lights, with seven new tracks. He also collaborated with the single Tinie Tempah Wonderman.
