Dita Von Teese Biography

Who is she and where did she come from, I hear you scream. Well, we were wondering that too and so we set about having a little dig into this Dita person.
It seems Dita is a little fascinated with the 1940s (WHY?!) and it's this fascination which has lead her to be called one of the instigators of a recent burlesque revival.
When Dita was 18 she began working in her local strip club ? and before you start tutting and turning up your noses, she actually went in there and decided it was time the other girls had a little competition! Bored with the outfits they had to wear, she came up with vintage-inspired underwear to spice things up a bit.
She really became a household (well, certain households anyway) name when she graced the cover of Playboy in 2002. Her name came about as a bit of an accident, as it happens. She wanted to simply be known as Dita but Playboy insisted on her using a surname (like that matters!), so she randomly chose Von Treese from a phonebook but the magazine typed it incorrectly as Teese. She liked it so much she decided to keep it on.
But how on earth does that make her a celeb? Well, this is where Marilyn Manson comes in to play. He'd been a long-time fan of hers and was even a member of her website (insert the Psycho shower music here if you wish) so, being a bit of a rock star, he thought he'd ask her to dance in one of his videos. She didn't make the video but they kept in touch, probably got drunk, and became a couple.
