In a nutshell

Aaah, the lovely Dannii Minogue! Who'd have thought that, after being in her sister's shadows for so long, Dannii would be able to break through and actually have people like her for HER! She deserves some credit for that, without a doubt...
Born in the brilliant city of Melbourne, Australia, Dannii is the youngest of three children. Kylie, her sister, is a singer (you might have heard of her) and her brother Brendan is a cameraman.
Just like Kylie it was on TV that a young Dannii first started her career. Australian soaps The Sullivans and Skyways were her first roles and by 1981 she'd moved onto the hit show Young Talent Time. It was here that she first started singing, both on the show and by recording songs to sing on tours.
Until that point all of Dannii's success was focused in Australia. But there was a sure-fire way of getting known in the UK, and that was by getting a role in either Neighbours or Home and Away. Obviously Neighbours was Kylie's domain so there was only one thing for it... Dannii grabbed a role as Emma in Home and Away. We can almost hear her now... "Sis, I'm going to be in Home and Away! We're hitting the BIG time now!".
As the old saying goes (well, we just made it up), first comes acting and then comes singing. And so it did, with Dannii releasing her first pop album way back in 1989. It managed to get into the Top 10 in the UK and things went from there. She kept releasing music and became well known in the UK ? Dannii even had a stint presenting on Channel 4's The Big Breakfast.
Music-wise, Dannii went a little off the rails from pop and seemed to concentrate more on dance music. And boy did she manage to pull off some good tunes ? All I Wanna Do, Who Do You Love Now? and I Begin To Wonder are just a couple of our favourites. Dance floor memories, eh?
Although Dannii managed to knock out some decent songs they never did quite have the impact of sister Kylie's music, and it seemed like YOU ? the public ? didn't really care either way about what Dannii was up to. There was even some hostility towards the poor girl. But, like a knight in shining armour, Simon Cowell came along and saved her bacon.
Even before The X Factor, Dannii was chosen to be a judge on Australia's Got Talent, the other of Simon's shows. But, even better, she impressed him so much that she became the illustrious fourth judge on The X Factor. She went on to win her first series with contestant Leon Jackson ? and, um, look what happened to him ? but still, she won!
