Walt Disney saw Funicello dancing the lead in Swan Lake at the Starlight Bowl in Burbank, California, and invited him to audition for the new children’s show “The Mickey Mouse Club (1955) Funicello began. His career in the program at age thirteen and soon became the most popular “Mouseketeer” on the show.
After leaving the Mickey Mouse Club, Funicello is under contract with Disney and has appeared on TV show Zorro (1957), Nine Lives Reading Elfego (1958), and starred in Disney’s Shaggy Dog (1959), Babes in Toyland (1961), The adventures Merlin Jones (1964), and Uncle Monkey (1965).

In early 1960, a series starring Annette beach party movies with Frankie Avalon, including Beach Party (1963), Muscle Beach Party (1964), bikini (1964), Beach Blanket Bingo (1965), and things like Wild Bikini (1965) . During this period he recorded a series of top-40 pop hit singles, including “Tall Paul”, “name”, “How Will I Know My Love” and “Pineapple Princess.”
In 1987, he returned to work with Funicello Frankie Avalon co-produce and star in the Paramount back to the beach, the parents of some troubled teens. In 1989 and 1990, Avalon and Funicello nostalgia tour, playing the beach party music and a famous pop singles in 1960.
In 1992, Funicello announced that he had struggled with multiple sclerosis, degenerative neurological disorder since 1987. To help raise funds to combat neurological disorders, she established the Annette Funicello Teddy Bear Company, which markets the line of collectible bears, and developed his own line of perfume, Cello, by Annette. Some of the results of these products go to theAnnette Funicello Fund for Neurological disease research.
Funicello was married to Jack Gilardi, 1965 until their divorce in 1981. The couple had three children. He is now married to her husband, Glen Holt, 1986.
